Sojourn Vineyards

Memorably luxurious wines from the best growing sites

In our quest to make memorably luxurious wines, Sojourn Cellars only sources grapes from the best growing sites in the finest appellations in Sonoma and Napa counties.

Family-owned vineyards along the rugged west Sonoma Coast, Petaluma Gap and cool Russian River Valley provide the backbone of our singular Pinot noir and Chardonnay wines.

The warmer regions of Sonoma Valley, as well as the renowned Oakville and Rutherford appellations of Napa Valley, give us Cabernet Sauvignon wines of great distinction.

Gap’s Crown Vineyard sits near the town of Cotati at an elevation of 300 to 800 feet, where it overlooks the Sangiacomo Vineyard just to the west. This is a high-end, hillside vineyard  that has established itself as a premium source for top rated Pinot noir and Chardonnay wines vintage after vintage. This extremely rocky, well-drained site with northwestern exposure benefits from the cool micro-climate of the area, as well as the natural stress created by the  severity of the terrain. It consistently produces powerful, concentrated Pinot noir wines in the New World-style. The Petaluma Gap moderates warm spells in the summer and fall, and enables the fruit to hang on the vine into late September and October for optimal ripening and balance.

Clones: 115, 828, 667

Rootstock: 110R & 3309

Planted: 2002 / 2005

Soil Type: Clay Loam with Significant Rock

Sangiacomo Vineyard

Sangiacomo Vineyard on Roberts Road near Cotati has been Sojourn's flagship Pinot noir vineyard since 2004. This exceptional site was developed in an old creekbed at the western base of Sonoma Mountain.

Sangiacomo Vineyard

Sangiacomo Vineyard on Roberts Road near Cotati has been Sojourn’s flagship Pinot noir vineyard since 2004. This exceptional site was developed in an old creekbed at the western base of Sonoma Mountain. In summer and fall, cool air and fog from the Pacific Ocean get trapped here, allowing for uncommonly long hangtimes without sacrificing acidity and balance. The vineyard’s distinctive climate, well-drained soils, and clonal diversity– including Pommard, Swan, and Dijon clones 115 and 777–combine to create an extraordinary site for growing world-class Pinot noir and Chardonnay. We feel very grateful to the Sangiacomo Family for their longstanding commitment to realizing the potential of this special vineyard.

Clones: 115, 777, Swan, Pommard

Rootstock: 101-14

Planted: 1998

Soil Type: Alluvial Clay Loam and River Rock

Walala Vineyard

West Sonoma Coast

The Walala Vineyard is perched along a ridge 1,200 feet above sea level, just inland from the rugged Sonoma coastline. In its position above the dense fog line, the vineyard experiences the moderate temperatures that give grapes longer hang times for optimal flavor and ripeness.

In its position above the dense fog line, the vineyard experiences the moderate temperatures that give grapes longer hang times for optimal flavor and ripeness. Rocky soils provide excellent drainage throughout the growing season and result in distinctive varietal character. Sojourn blends Dijon clones 113, 115, 777 and 828 from this site for a wine of depth and intrigue that highlights its extreme growing conditions. Price Family Vineyards took ownership of this vineyard in 2014, and Atlas Vineyard Management masterfully handles the daunting task of extreme coastal winegrowing.

Clones: Dijon: 113, 115, 777 & 828

Rootstock: 3309 & 3309C and Riparia Gloire
