Sojourn 2024 Release Wines in International Wine Report

Sojourn 2024 Release Wines in International Wine Report

96 Points - 2022 Gap’s Crown Vineyard Pinot Noir

The Gap’s Crown Pinot Noirs from Sojourn are always among my favorites, and the 2022 is no exception. Displaying a stunning shimmering medium ruby-purple core with a lighter pink rim, it’s fermented with 15% whole clusters is aged in 50% new French oak. Rich notes of wild huckleberries, boysenberries, black tea, ground clove, and cedary herbs, the smooth tannins, and lemony acidity help with the stunning fruit-driven palate with a length that goes on for minutes. Highly recommended.

96 Points - 2022 Sangiacomo Vineyard Pinot Noir

All destemmed fruit was used in the 2022 Sangiacomo Vineyard Pinot Noir from Sojourn. Seeing 50% new French oak during aging, it sports a glistening medium ruby-garnet core with a bluish rim in the glass. A touch more meaty and earthy than its siblings - think notes of crushed pink peppercorn and a touch of peppered charcuterie. Bold blue and red fruited notes meld with violet flowers and black tea notes that sit on the mid-palate. Highly recommended and editor’s choice.

96 Points - 2022 Walala Vineyard Pinot Noir

With just 5% whole cluster to give it a touch of added structure and weight, the Walala Pinot Noir from Sojourn is aged in 50% new French oak. Displaying a ruby-red core with a light pink rim in the glass, it boasts pleasant aromas of red and black cherries, marionberries, wet-turned earth, crushed pink peppercorn, dusty flower petals, and sweet baking spices. Tannins are present but sweet and rounded and pair perfectly with the lush acidity that sweeps across the palate. Another winner from winemaker, Randy Bennett, is highly recommended.

96 Points - 2021 Beckstoffer Vineyard Georges III Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2021 Beckstoffer Vineyard Georges III Cabernet Sauvignon was aged in 75% new French oak barrels and sports a deep purple core with a bright neon rim in the glass. Lovely and focused notes of blackberry pie, sweet cinnamon stick, black plum, old leather, sweet tobacco, and shades of dark chocolate waft from the glass. Tannins fall on the medium level and will need a year or two to soften, but the perfected levels of acidity balance everything out. Highly recommended.

95 Points - 2022 UV Lucky Well Vineyard Pinot Noir

A shimmering medium ruby-garnet core with a light pink rim, the 2022 UV Lucky Well Pinot Noir is aged in about 50% new French oak barrels. It stuns on the nose with bountiful aromas of red plums, Bing cherries, pomegranate seeds, dried thyme, and dusty cedary herbs. Tannins are well integrated alongside the mouthwatering acidity, while the finish is wild blueberry-focused with lovely vanilla and spice tones.

95 Points - 2021 Home Ranch Cuvée Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2021 Home Ranch Cuvée Cabernet from Sojourn sports a dark purple core with a lighter purple rim and saw 70% new French oak barrels during aging. This is a wine that punches way above its price point and delivers scintillating notes of crushed blackberries, blueberry pie, milk chocolate, crushed herbs, sweet tobacco, and shades of new leather. Tannins are on the medium side but are perfectly balanced with the elevated acidity and the fruit and earth-focused finish. Sojourn Receives top scores from international wine report

95 Points - 2021 Monte Rosso Cabernet Sauvignon

Boasting a deep brooding purple core with a neon purple rim, the 2021 Monte Rosso Vineyard Cabernet gifts concentrated aromas and flavors of black plum, crushed ripe strawberries, wet earth, dried lavender flower petals, mocha powder, and sweet clove. Crunchy tannins and a full-bodied mouthfeel across the tongue work perfectly with the black fruit and spice-driven finish.

95 Points - 2022 Sangiacomo Vineyard Chardonnay

About 30% of the Sangiacomo Vineyard Chardonnay doesn’t see malolactic fermentation, which aids in the lifted acidity across the tongue. Aged in 30% new French oak, it sports scrumptious aromas and flavors of ripe honey crisp apples, Meyer lemon zest, dried pineapple, toasted almonds, and sweet clove. It finishes with a rich, lush, and creamy aspect on the back palate.

94 Points - 2022 rodgers creek vineyard pinot noir

20% whole clusters are used during fermentation, and 50% new French oak is used during aging on the 2022 Rodgers Creek Pinot Noir. A shimmering medium ruby-blue core moves to a fluorescent purple rim, while producing boisterous aromas of blue plum flesh, mountain blueberries, grated chocolate, sweet Christmas spices, and cedary herbs. It’s pushing a full-bodied mouthfeel that works wonderfully with the earth and blue-fruit forward finish.

94 Points - 2022 Gap’s Crown Vineyard Chardonnay

The always delicious Sojourn Gap’s Crown Chardonnay boasts a light lemony core with a watery rim and sees about 25% new French oak during fermentation. Lofty aromas of fresh white peach, fresh citrus, and lemony herbs, with just a hint of Honeydew melon pop from the glass. The palate is much the same, but with a bitter herb and lemon verbena note that sits on the back palate. Lush with vibrant acidity.
