2023 Nightwing Vineyard Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast
2023 Nightwing Vineyard Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast
This is our third vintage producing a Nightwing vineyard-designate Pinot Noir and we continue to be impressed by the vineyard. This vintage offers depth and nuance with additional structure and longevity. Nightwing is located at 1,200 feet elevation on a windy mountainside at the eastern edge of the cool Sonoma Coast appellation. It gets its name from the variety of winged creatures that come alive as the sun sets. Pommard clone, planted at the top of the vineyard, provides a deep, rich core and silky texture. Clone 115, residing lower on a steep slope, adds fresh red fruit flavors and structure.

"The 2023 Nightwing Vineyard Pinot Noir from Sojourn, sourced from a lofty 1200-foot hillside in the Petaluma Gap, captivates with its vibrancy and depth. Layers of ripe strawberry, cranberry, and a touch of rhubarb intertwine with savory hints of crushed herbs, cedar smoke, and earthy undertones. The palate unveils a silky, polished texture underscored by a distinct saline edge and a whisper of forest floor. This elegant and harmonious wine exudes both energy and poise, making it a delight to savor today while promising further evolution over the next decade." - Jeremy Young, International Wine Report

"The 2023 ‘Nightwing Vineyard’ comes from this site owned by MacRostie, and set on a hillside at 1200 feet. Juicy red fruit flavors mingle well with salty soils, pipe tobacco and loamy soils on the palate. Showing a smooth texture and good sense of minerality, enjoy this beauty now and over the next ten plus years." - Owen Bargreen
Nightwing Vineyard
Sonoma Coast, Petaluma Gap
Nightwing Vineyard is located at 1,200 feet elevation on a windy mountainside at the eastern edge of the Petaluma Gap within the cool Sonoma Coast appellation. The vineyard gets its name from the variety of winged creatures that come alive as the sun sets over the vines. Sojourn’s four blocks were planted in 2017 to Pommard clone as well as Dijon clones 115, 667, and 828. The Pommard clone provides a deep, rich core, with the others adding layers of complexity and robust fruit flavors.
