2021 UV Lucky Well Vineyard Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast
2021 UV Lucky Well Vineyard Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast
Lucky Well Vineyard was developed in 2008 by the late, famed vineyard manager Ulises Valdez, and continues to be farmed by the Valdez family at the highest level of quality. Ulises gave the vineyard its name in recognition of his luck finding a prolific well in an unexpected location on the property. The vineyard sits atop a knoll of Goldridge sandy-loam soils in the cool and foggy Sebastopol Hills. Sojourn’s blocks include Pommard clone on 101-14 and a distinctive suitcase Vosne-Romanée clone on 420A that blend harmoniously. The rows of Pommard clone run down a steep south east face and provide rich fruit character and full body, while the Vosne-Romanée block is perched on top of the ridge with less direct sunlight and provides exceptional structure with layers of dark red fruit flavors.

"The 2021 UV Lucky Well from Sojourn is a new-to-me Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast and is wonderfully delicious and very drinkable. Presenting a medium to dark glimmering ruby core with a neon pink rim in the glass, it sports notes of crushed blueberry, dried thyme, luscious cinnamon, hints of purple wildflowers, umami, and scintillating aspects of crushed peppercorn and cedary herbs. Wonderfully balanced with no rough edges to be found, it finishes with a perfect balance of fruit, herbs, and earth. I can’t wait to see what future vintages of this wine look like in the Sojourn portfolio. Highly recommended." - Jeremy Young, International Wine Report

"Tempting mint and sour cherry aromas lead to tangy, dried cherries, cranberries and pine needle flavors in this lively, nervy and well balanced wine. Pure fruit flavors and good acidity give it great focus." - Jim Gordon, Wine Enthusiast
