Durell Vineyard has been the source behind some of the most sought-after Chardonnay wines, and we feel fortunate to work with two outstanding vineyard blocks that combine to make a unique wine. The Hill block was planted in the 1990’s and gives very low yields of small clusters of berries. These small bunches provide extraordinary flavors, complexity and texture. The Barn block was planted in rocky soils of an old creek bed and provides minerality and fresh acidity to balance out the blend. Each block of our Old Wente clone Chardonnay was harvested at night and gently pressed to extract only the highest quality juice. We fermented in French oak barrels to produce an expansive wine that illustrates the balance and exceptional character of the vintage.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The 2017 Chardonnay Durell Vineyard springs from the glass with decadent creme brulee, pineapple upside down cake and toasted almond scents over a core of honeydew melon and baked apricots. Medium to full-bodied, intensely flavored, creamy and seductive in the mouth, it packs-in the tropical and stone fruit flavors with loads of savory nuances and a spicy kick coming through on the finish." - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"The ‘Durell Vineyard’ is a historic cite in the Sonoma Coast AVA. The nose evokes nice wild mushroom and damp earth tones that mingle with baked apple and vanilla cream aromatics that build energy in the glass. The mid-[alate weight is gorgeous as a beam of salinity runs through the orchard fruit and creamy flavors. Enjoy this outstanding bottling over the next seven to ten years. Drink 2019-2027." - Dr. Owen Bargreen, International Wine Report
