Durell has been the source behind some of the highest rated and most sought after Chardonnay wines in California. This famed vineyard offers robust flavors, complexity and layered texture. Sojourn’s Durell Vineyard Chardonnay is made from two blocks of 100% Old Wente clone. The Hill block was planted in the 90’s and gives very low yields of small clusters with prominent hen and chick berries. These small bunches provide extraordinary flavors, complexity and texture. The Barn block was planted in rocky soils of an old creek bed and provides minerality and fresh acidity to balance out the blend. Each lot was harvested separately at night when the fruit was cold and then whole cluster pressed immediately to extract only the highest quality juice. This wine is lively and exotic with rich flavors, complexity and smooth texture. We fermented in French oak barrels to produce an expansive Chardonnay that illustrates the balance and exceptional character of the 2014 vintage. It is truly a Chardonnay lover’s Chardonnay.
