2018 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
2018 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
We sourced our 2018 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay from three of the top vineyard sites in Sonoma County – Sangiacomo, Durell, and Gap’s Crown – with the goal of creating a cuvée that showcases the varietal’s exceptional character across the Sonoma Coast appellation. These diverse vineyards produced a balanced crop in 2018 with high levels of concentration and detailed aromatics. An intriguing nose of stone fruit and yellow apple leads to rich flavors and an intriguing mix of depth and vibrancy on the palate. Refreshing and layered, the elevage in 30% new French oak adds richness and texture without overwhelming the fruit. The wine is a tremendous value at $38.

"There's an enveloping creaminess to the pure-tasting ripe white fruit flavors, supported by rich acidity and a firm structure. Focused and minerally on the complex finish. Drink now through 2024." - Kim Marcus, Wine Spectator

"The 2018 Chardonnay Gap's Crown Vineyard is cut from the same cloth with its rich orchard fruits and subtle toasty notes, yet it has a touch more purity, focused, and precision on the palate. Beautifully balanced, with plenty of concentration and length. It's going to evolve gracefully and should easily evolve for 7-8 years in cold cellars." - Jeb Dunnuck

"The 2018 ‘Sonoma Coast’ Chardonnay was aged in 30% new French oak before bottling. The texture is gorgeous here as the wine leads with bright creme brûlée and full-bodied orchard fruit flavors with Challah bread and baking spice undertones. This is fantastic stuff to enjoy in its youth and will develop well for another decade." - Dr. Owen Bargreen, International Wine Report
